The wonders of yoga have woven their way through my life for the past 30-plus years, but it was at my first Modo class (Moksha then) in 2006 when I knew I had discovered something truly extraordinary. The challenge of the posture sequences, the intensity of the heat, and the welcoming and comfortable atmosphere of the studio, all balanced perfectly upon a strong and nurturing community foundation. Here, I found my oasis.

In November of that same year, personal tragedy rocked my world to its roots, and the subsequent struggle to regain my footing has been enormous and at times, seemingly impossible. Modo has offered me serenity and gentle support and plays an integral part in my ongoing healing process that continues to this day.

I joined the Energy Exchange (Trade) Program because I wanted to delve deeper into the amazing community I had found. Then, with the encouragement of my family and my Modo friends, I travelled solo to Kerala, India in February 2010 where I proudly completed the 4-week Intensive Modo Teacher Training Program. From there, I travelled north to explore the spiritually rich ancient city of Varanasi on the River Ganges, the colourful and enchanting capital of Delhi, and the awe-inspiring Taj Mahal.

Upon my return from this remarkable life experience, I was over-the-moon delighted to join the teaching crew of Modo Yoga London. Three years later, I completed the Modo Flow Training in Montréal. In July of 2017 and 2019, I was blessed and honoured to experience Yin Teacher Trainings in California with Paul and Suzee Grilley.

Beyond yoga, I find pleasure in reading (ravenously!), travelling, foreign and indie films, and walking along the water’s edge in my lakeside village.

The Passionate Music Lover: Lucy Morgan

My yoga journey began in 2010. At 15 years old I stepped into the hot room with the support of my mom and thought “my God it is hot in here!” At my young age, it took me a few classes to get used to it. But once I did, I was hooked! I followed yoga through my University years, travelling 30 minutes by bus to get to the closest hot yoga studio. Being far from home, experiencing loneliness and trying to find myself, yoga was there to ground me.

Getting my first job out of school, relocating to a small town where I knew no one and was struggling to keep my head up, the hot yoga studio down the street welcomed me with open arms. And later, when living in Toronto, I found my community by joining the energy exchange program. It brought me so much joy to take care of a studio that took such good care of me. To be a small part of something big.

It wasn’t until I moved back home in 2020 that I began tossing around the idea of teacher training. I loved yoga but could I really teach it? Cue the imposter syndrome! But I pushed past the fear and self doubt, hopping on a plane to Nicaragua in 2023 for my Modo Foundational Training. A life-changing experience to say the least. Leading people in movement and breath only made me want to learn more. So, I headed to Vancouver for my Yin training with Bernie Clark.

Aside from yoga, my passion lies in music and songwriting. I love board games, mixing mocktails and watching the sunset down the street from my childhood home in Port Stanley! I enjoy hiking in nature, reading murder mystery books, and spending too much money at farmers markets.

Finding joy in the little things, that’s what it’s all about!
